About

ResilienceBuilder®.

In short

ResilienceBuilder® is an assessment-led resilience development practice founded by Steve Howe, who spent more than 35 years in senior technology leadership, including as a Vice President at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and as an Associate Lecturer on the Coventry University MBA.

ResilienceBuilder® was created to make resilience measurable and help people sustain performance under pressure and change. Not a mood, not a motivational message, but something you can assess, target and build, the same way you would any other capability that matters to performance.

Our story

ResilienceBuilder® was founded by Steve Howe, who spent more than 35 years in the technology sector holding senior leadership positions, including as a Vice President at Hewlett Packard Enterprise. Steve left the corporate world in 2017 to focus on addressing the rising levels of stress, illness and burnout in the workplace, and today works with individuals, teams and organisations to help them better navigate pressure, adversity and change by building their resilience.

Steve has had a long-standing passion for helping people develop and grow throughout his corporate career, including sponsorship of leadership, top-talent and graduate programmes, as well as serving as an Associate Lecturer on Coventry University’s MBA programme in the UK, specialising in Leadership and Resilience. Today Steve is joined by co-founders Judith Howe and Will Howe, who bring a wealth of experience in research, analytics, data management and operations.

Our mission

Our mission is clear: to reduce the impact of workplace stress and burnout by working with individuals and teams to build their resilience, while partnering with organisations to create environments where people can truly thrive.

How ResilienceBuilder® was developed

Drawing on four years of research into the factors associated with resilience, combined with his experience as a senior leader working in demanding global environments, Steve developed the ResilienceBuilder® Model and Assessment Tool. The result is a practical, evidence-based framework that helps people understand their current resilience profile, identify areas for development, and access targeted recommendations to strengthen their capacity to sustain performance under pressure and change.

Who ResilienceBuilder® is for

ResilienceBuilder® is used by organisations, teams, leaders and individuals across a wide range of sectors. Programmes are delivered through a combination of assessments, workshops, coaching and leadership development initiatives. The online Assessment Tool generates personalised reports and data-driven insights that help individuals focus their development while enabling organisations to identify trends, strengths and opportunities across teams.

What we believe

Our research found that resilience training is most effective when the causes of low resilience are identified and then targeted, which is more impactful than typical generic resilience training.

How we work

Every engagement starts with the ResilienceBuilder® Assessment, and our training and coaching are shaped by what it finds. From there, workshops, coaching and wider resilience programmes follow. There is also the opportunity for coaches or in-house L&D specialists to complete the ResilienceBuilder® coach certification and deliver the training themselves.

Common questions

Who is behind ResilienceBuilder®?

ResilienceBuilder® was founded by Steve Howe, who spent more than 35 years in the technology sector in senior leadership positions, including Vice President at Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and is an Associate Lecturer on the Coventry University MBA. Steve is joined by co-founders Judith Howe and Will Howe, who bring experience in research, analytics, data management and operations.

What does ResilienceBuilder® actually do?

It is an assessment-led resilience development practice. The work starts with the ResilienceBuilder® Assessment, which measures a person or team across five facets of resilience, and continues through training, workshops, coaching and coach certification shaped by that data.

What makes the approach different?

Our research found that resilience training is most effective when the causes of low resilience are identified and then targeted, rather than delivered as generic training. ResilienceBuilder® measures resilience first, then identifies and builds the specific facets under strain, so progress can be seen rather than assumed.
